I guess a good place to start off is with a bit of an introduction. My name is Kris Wright, and this is the Inglewood Media blog. ; )

About me

I love building websites. It’s geeky, but it’s a side of me that I’m very proud of. I’ve been building websites since the mid-nineties – when websites often had <del>awesome</del> cheesy animated GIF images and blinking text. I worked retail (this should be a right of passage for everybody who works with others later in their career) and built small websites to make money to go to College. I went to Algonquin College to study computer programming (twice!) and ended up working with the Government of Canada where I developed websites using a variety of technologies for roughly five years. I’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to do what I love for a living.

About Inglewood Media

I love challenges. I also love technology. Things are typically very stable when you work for the government, which can be very nice. Unfortunately, stability often also means that there is a lack of change, and a lack of new challenges. I figured that the best way to explore new challenges was to start doing freelance web development work.

Why the name Inglewood Media?

I was working on a website one morning, sitting at my desk in a basement apartment looking out on to the street where I had recently moved. I loved the neighborhood, it was looking like it was going to be a bright fall day, and I was working on a web development project. Things were perfect. That was the point in time that I realized that I really loved what I was doing, and that I wanted to do it for a living. The street name was Inglewood Place, so I thought I’d use that as the business name.

About Sumac

Sumac is my assistant. He takes care of kneading my legs whenever they appear comfortable, making sure the comfortable furniture doesn’t go anywhere, and regularly tearing around whatever room I am in. In case you are wondering, yes, Sumac is a cat. And yes, he’s integral to this whole operation.
